About SAML v2.0 Metadata

SAML v2.0 Metadata is the mechanism used to set up the initial one-time configuration parameters at the IdP and SP to enable subsequent SAML messaging. This establishes the 'circle of trust' relationship between the RealMe assertion service IdP and your SP. The RealMe assertion service MTS essentially uses the same SAML v2.0 Metadata for the ITE and Production environments. For more information about the Metadata file, see SAML v2.0 Metadata requirements.

The RealMe Assertion Service MTS provides these functions:

  • The ability for a developer to submit metadata to the MTS for validation - this checks that the XML is valid against the SAML v2.0 metadata schema.
  • The ability for an integrated SP to update and tune the SAML v2.0 messaging parameters in the integration - for example, adjust the URL for the SAML v2.0 service endpoints.

You can perform a metadata update here.
